First Taste of Wine - The Little Penguin: Merlot

A Pretty Blue Label and a Cute Little Penguin how could we go wrong
Name: The Little Penguin
Variety: Merlot
Region: South Eastern Australia
Country: Australia
Year: 2010
Price: $6.99

Winery Review: Smooth as diving into the sea, this Australian merlot is a deep brilliant red. Fleshy ripe strawberries and juicy blueblerries entice the palate into a meandering river of black fruits and spice. The palate is soft and stylish with superbly ripe merlot fruit. Leading to a long sweet finish. Serve it up with hard cheeses , BBQ tri tip or asain cusine.

My First Impression: Ugh! Its a red wine. It's not going to be sweet and I'm going to hate it.

After Smelling it: There was a very light smell (very unexpected). There was a slight berry smell.

After Tasting it: This wine seemed very smooth and sweet with a tart aftertaste. The berries that I smelled I could taste but they seemed to be tart berries. Since we are new to wine tasting it was hard to come up with words, so we looked up a list of words to describe wine. After looking at the list of words this wine seems to be lucious and velvety. After 2 glasses of "tasting this wine I seemed to actually enjoy it.
